Our mission is to lead the church’s efforts in spreading the life-changing message of Jesus Christ throughout our community, state, nation and the whole world by means of verbal witnessing, compassionate acts of mercy, converting in love.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age” Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
WHAT WE DO
SUPPORT THE MINISTRY
There are many opportunities for every member of Agape House of Worship to serve in the Outreach and Evangelism Ministry. If you have passion to evangelize by reaching out to unbelievers, have compassion for people who have not experienced the love of God, you can join us:
AHOW has been extending love to the community through the Volunteer Income Assistance Tax ministry (VITA) since 2010. AHOW is certified by the IRS as a VITA site. VITA is a free program that assists low-and moderate-income individuals and families with the preparation of their federal and state tax returns at no cost. During the past tax filing season, the AHOW VITA Ministry helped prepare over 200 tax returns with total tax refunds in excess of $100,000.
Our goal as a ministry is to share God’s love by providing professional services that will help members of our community save money. These services include preparation of tax returns, and basic financial/tax counseling.
The ministry is led by Fadekemi Ohakim, a CPA and she is certified by the IRS a VITA site coordinator. Ministry members serve as
IT Support team.
The ministry also relies heavily on a volunteer base from the community during the peak tax season.
Participate in the free IRS training (i.e. standard of conduct training, tax law training, tax software training) and certification provided on an annual basis to all ministry members and volunteers. All members are required to be certified on an annual basis.
The ministry serves the community primarily during the peak tax season from January – April every Saturday from 9am-2pm.
Annual training and certification of members and volunteers takes place from November – January at announced dates and times.
